Purchases I Regret

I always love when I find great coffee shops in my neighborhood. It makes getting a quick cup easy and convenient. I stopped by Compass Coffee on 8th Street NW. I had a dirty chai, which is just a chai tea latte with 2 shots of espresso. It is one of my favorite drinks during fall. I love the spiciness of the chai, and I of course love the energy boost. Check out a dirty chai at Compass Coffee, and tell them I sent you!

As I mentioned a few blogs ago, I love to shop. However, there have been some things that I have bought and now regret.

  • My leather backpack and tote from Madewell. Now I absolutely love my backpack and tote, and I love Madewell. I wish I would have known how much maintenance goes into keeping leather clean and nice. The maintenance cost is definitely something you should consider with any purchase.
  • This summer in New York, my friend and I stumbled upon a pop up shop, Amanu, that specializes in handmade sandals. My shoes are the coolest thing ever and I get so many compliments, but they were EXPENSIVE! In hindsight I should’ve gone to Target.
  • Now this one might seem counter intuitive, but please do not buy textbooks. I have spent so much money buying textbooks that are in PDF form or that we never used in class. Triple check the internet before purchasing books because chances are you can find the material you need for free!

Make sure what you buy is feasible. Other wise you’ll be stuck with some regrets.

You Don’t Need It Sis!

Today I needed a quick pick me up, so I headed to La Colombe! Their macchiato gave me a nice energy boost to keep me engaged long enough to finish my work! There’s nothing like a fresh manicure and a shot of espresso to keep me going.

Hi my name is Adia, and I am a spendoholic. I love spending money. I can’t help it! I like nice things and I love good food. After a sobering conversation with my mom, I realized my spending habits are one area of my life that I have let get out of control. I am by nature very impulsive. Honestly, I hate the word no. Especially when it comes to a good meal, or a sale.

I am no longer a kid. Which means that the choices I make now, will impact my future. This upcoming year is going to take quite a toll on me financially as I will be graduating college, moving into an apartment, buying a car, paying rent, getting insurance, etc. Needless to say, I can no longer afford frivolous things. I am going to challenge myself to stick to a budget and say no now so I can say yes later!

I have just admitted that budgeting isn’t a strength of mine, so I am going to leave it to the experts.

Managing money effectively is not easy, but it is something that can be learned. As I continue to learn more about being fiscally responsible I will of course share the knowledge.

Save your money and freeze your eggs!
